In this first of a multi-episode series, the CTC-SRH talks with epidemiologist Dr. Maeve Wallace about pregnancy-associated deaths in the US, how often they happen, and the top causes, and what this information means for Title X practitioners and staff.
The CTC-SRH talks with Robin Summers, JD senior counsel and vice president at the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association, about the recent federal ruling in Ohio v. Becerra. Robin interprets the current ruling for listeners and provides insight into what Title X providers and staff can anticipate next in the case.
In this DIALS, recorded on 1/9/2024, Sarah Diemert provided an overview of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) mobile app and went through case studies using the app to determine appropriate next steps for various pap smear results. She also provided an overview of the guidelines most commonly followed in the United States, published by ASCCP, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Cancer Society (ACS), and the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).

In this DIALS, recorded on 11/27/23, Dr. David Turok and Dr. Hilary Reno discussed emerging research that supports emergency contraception and post-exposure prophylaxis for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Studies have shown that PEP and EC are appropriate for prophylaxis following unprotected intercourse. Additionally, doxy PEP shows promise as a preventive measure for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis.
These case studies are useful in showcasing opportunities to strengthen an organization's commitment to equity, implementing harm reduction practices, & collaborating with other support services. In identifying opportunities within existing work, a center can deepen the understanding and skills of staff members around harm reduction practices. These case studies were created as part of the Clinician Cafe on harm reduction.

It provides an overview of the research that supports extended use for most methods of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) available in the U.S., followed by a discussion about techniques for client-led education and counseling for potential extended use LARC.
As part of the 2023 Clinician Cafe, the CTC-SRH speaks with Dr. Mishka Terplan about harm reduction, its role in sexual and reproductive healthcare, and guidance for clinicians on substance use, misuse, and harm reduction counseling.
