This Clinician Café will explore existing and emerging gender-affirming care in the Title X setting. Gender-affirming care, as defined by the World Health Organization, encompasses a range of social, psychological, behavioral, and medical interventions “designed to support and affirm an individual’s gender identity” when it conflicts with the gender they were assigned at birth. The interventions fall along a continuum as well, from counseling to changes in social expression to medications (such as hormone therapy). The Tea and Talk is scheduled for June 12th at 12:30pm CT. Up to 2.5 CE (CNE and CPH) is available for this Cafe.
Objectives:
Provide an overview of current health disparities for those seeking gender-affirming care and how healthcare systems are addressing them.
Express how some Title X providers can improve gender-affirming care, within family planning settings like contraception, steps for family planning, adoption, and warm hand-offs.
Identify benefits and drawbacks of IUDs that may be unique to transmasculine patients.
Describe the effects of serum testosterone levels on vaginal bleeding and spotting.
Explain the factors associated with unsatisfactory Paps in transmasculine patients.
Participants will be able to assess their organizations regarding lgbtq+ services and gender-affirming care offered within their setting.
Please note: Registration for the Clinician Cafe and the Tea and Talk are the same - you will be registered for both with one registration.

Founded as the National Clinical Training Center for Family Planning (NCTCFP) in 2006, we changed our name to the Clinical Training Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health (CTC-SRH) in 2023. We have been funded by the Office of Population Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services since inception and remain the primary source of clinical training for those providing sexual and reproductive health care in federally-funded settings.
Having served the Title X network for nearly two decades, our team of clinical experts recognized that the term “family planning” falls short of describing the client-centered and inclusive sexual and reproductive health services we offer, especially in an increasingly urgent and rapidly shifting healthcare landscape.
The newly-renamed Clinical Training Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health (CTC-SRH) continues to provide evidence-based clinical training and resources to healthcare providers in Title X settings through increased healthcare quality, equity, and access.
