Tammy Bennett has 23 years of experience as a women’s health nurse practitioner, with over half being a Title X clinician, supervisor, and statewide consultant specializing in client-centered Title X services, clinical technical assistance, and education in family planning and sexually transmitted infection screening, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies. Previously, she served as the Reproductive Health Statewide Nurse Consultant for Louisiana. Currently, Tammy is the Associate Director of Clinical Training for the Clinical Training Center for Sexual + Reproductive Health at the Collaborative to Advance Health Services, and an Assistant Research Professor with the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Nursing and Health Studies. In this capacity, she creates, develops, and delivers clinical training and technical assistance to practicing clinicians throughout the United States in the areas of sexual and reproductive health.

Tammy worked in private practice for two years before moving into public health where she found her passion – helping others attain equitable, quality sexual and reproductive health services. From starting a low-risk obstetric clinic with continued family planning care after delivery, to serving as a regional nurse manager and caring for clients in Title X clinics, to being the Louisiana Reproductive Health Statewide Nurse Consultant, she works with all organizational roles to increase provider and clinic capacity to provide these quality services for all clients.

Tammy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Northwestern State University, Shreveport, LA, in 1992, her Master of Science in Nursing with Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner focus in 2000 and is currently attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for her Doctorate in Nursing Practice with anticipated graduation in August 2024. She joined the CTC-SRH as the Associate Director of Clinical Training in 2024.

Tammy is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA), the Louisiana Nurse Practitioner Association (LANP), Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), and the American Nurse Association (ANA).

Tammy, along with her husband, daughter, two Pomeranians, and a toy Aussie grand-dog recently moved to Russellville, Arkansas to their dream home with a beautiful view of Lake Dardanelle. Once her doctorate is complete, she will be found crafting, sewing, needlepointing, and always drinking coffee.
