Reducing Pain in IUD Placement

Join colleagues and industry representatives, Kimberly Hart, PhD, RN, WHNP-BC, Medical Liaison at Bayer HealthCare and Laurie Tickle, PhD, Director, Field Medical Engagement, Bayer HealthCare, as the Clinical Training Center for Sexual + Reproductive Health hosts an informal ‘Drop In Active Learning Sessions’ (DIALS) focused on best practices for reducing pain with IUD placement. Our speakers will provide background information and research about this topic, as well as highlight updated guidelines from the CDC. Join us and learn about nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic methods of pain control and useful tools for providing evidence-based, client-centered, contraceptive care.

Learning Objectives
1. Understand updates to the recent 2024 revision of the U.S. Selected Practice Recommendations with respect to contraceptive decision-making and medications for IUD provision.
2. Discuss ways to manage patient discomfort using both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions from a recently published best practices manuscript.
